80's tribute band "The Breakfast Club" playing in Dobson

Shot to the heart and Shelton Vineyards will be the one's to blame on May 18th 2013. This is when the 80's tribute band, "The Breakfast Club" will take center stage at this winery located in Dobson North Carolina.

The concert will last from 5 pm - 8 pm.

I do love the music of the 1980's!!! And the big open beautiful spacious piece of land that Shelton Vineyards sits on should lend to providing a special night of music.

I have attended a "The Breakfast Club" concert in Chicago and loved them as a tribute band. But if you have no clue about this band there's a video below that should give you a good idea about the caliber of music they play. And what song's might be on the playlist for this night on May 18th. This is a Friday night.

So how much does this concert cost?

If you purchase the tickets on or before May 13th (this is the Monday before the concert) the price of the tickets are $25. But if you wait to purchase the tickets at the gate on the night of the concert you will have to pay $30.

If you are interested in attending and also paying $5 less you can call Shelton Vineyards at 336-366-4724 but you need to do this by May 13th in order to receive the tickets at the reduced price.

And I forgot to mention if you are a member of the wine club at the vineyards the cost you will only $20.

And while you are on the phone you may want to inquire about the other 4 concerts they will will be having through the summer. I believe you can buy a bundle deal, tickets to this 80's tribute band "The Breakfast Club" concert plus the 4 other concerts for a total of $75. This is not a bad deal for 5 decent summer concerts.

I will provide more information on these other concerts at a later date.

Wine Club

I have received a few emails asking about the wine club offered by Shelton Vineyards. Wines

How many wines can I count at Shelton Vineyards? 1, 2, 3...

This North Carolina winery has a ton of great wines. To be truthful, when I encounter a winery with a bunch of different wines, I usually automatically assume most of their wines are low quality.

Why?

Because making a great wine requires great time and care. If the winery has only been opened for 3-5 years but has 30 different wines this sends up red flags. Even more so if the owners of the winery are younger in age.

The brothers who own Shelton Vineyards are very mature in age and if you research them you will find they have had the hobby of making wine for many decades.

So even though they do offer many wines, knowing the owners have been wine makers for many years, even before they opened their winery, is a very comforting feeling when looking at the number of wines they have in stock.

How many different wines do they offer?

At the time of writing this there were at least 20 different wines offed at this vineyard. A whole variety of different wines. Whites, Reds, Roses, Blushes. In dry, semi-dry and sweet.

What about the wine prices?

If you have looked at some of the images I have provided you can see the various prices of the wines at Shelton Vineyards.

What are my favorite wines at this vineyard?

Yes, some of there wines are expensive, the 2007 Family Reserve Claret goes for $40 a bottle. But the majority of wines you find here will go for between $12-20. When judging the quality of their wines I do believe the prices are fair.

Shelton vineyards in my estimations is a great place to find a new bottle wine that you will definitely be satisfied with and while your there you may want to stop in at their grill or restaurant and grab a bit to eat!!

History

Shelton Vineyards
When did it all start at Shelton Vineyards? If you happen to have never heard of this vineyard, you can also call it a winery, it's a fine establishment located in North Carolina in the city of Dobson.

In 1994 by two brother, Charlie and Ed Shelton purchased some land at an auction but at the time of purchasing they really didn't have a clue as to what they would use the land for.

Opening Shelton Vineyards wasn't even in their thoughts at the time they won this land at auction.  But these brothers were very both smart and cared a lot of the the economics of the area they lived in.

What was in these brothers thoughts

They knew the tobacco industry was on the decline around the Dobson, North Carolina area. And this, the tobacco industry was a huge economic staple of both the city and surrounding region. The Shelton brothers, grew weary as they knew how this decline would play out and hurt the economics of the area.

What about a Vineyard in Dobson

So they thought what could they use this land for to help improved the economic climate of the area?

And that's when their love of wine making jumped into their thoughts, helping them to make the decision on how they would use the land. What they saw in other areas of the state was other vineyards and wineries that have been opened and knew how they had a positive effect on the surrounding economy.

Great for the economy and wine making was also one of their beloved hobbies. So in 1999 they struck a shovel in the ground and started to build what is now known as Shelton Vineyards. And ever since first opening Shelton Vineyards has been nothing less than a success.

At the vineyards you will find: Fine wines, wine tasting, events, tours, a grill and restaurant.

Definitely a great spot in Dobson NC to visit.
